MeHello, I’m Jacqui.

I’ve created this page because I love everything about food – eating, cooking, shopping… I want to talk about it, share my discoveries and passions and learn some of yours too. I’m particularly interested in baking and own my own little bakery in the Cotswolds called Beau’s Bakehouse – www.beausbakehouse.co.uk. 

I was born in New Zealand to a Scottish mother and a Kiwi father.  Growing up in New Zealand there was always bountiful quantities of fresh fruit and vegetables and home baking was a big part of our culture.  My kiwi grandmother was an amazing cook and baker – she even had her own cake kitchen in Napier, New Zealand when she was young. My mother was a very good cook and baker as well, but was such a perfectionist she often found it too stressful!

I studied Food Technology at Massey University and soon after graduating moved over to the UK (Scotland initially and then down to the Cotswolds).  I worked in project management and product development for a premium alcohol drinks manufacturer and then for a soft drinks manufacturer before taking the plunge and setting up my own business.

Baking has always been a passion of mine, there is something intensely satisfying about carefully blending and mixing the raw ingredients together, putting them in a tin and baking.  Taking the baked product out of the oven is an amazing feeling (when it’s worked and I haven’t made a mistake!).

I’ve collected many cook books and recipes over the years many of which I’ve unfortunately only managed to look through and drool over.

My other passions in life include rock music, crochet, wine, coffee and cats – some of which my get a mention from time to time!
